THE AQUARIUM OF ELBA
The Aquarium of Elba is one of the most complete aquariums
in the Mediterranean as it holds about 150 species of Mediterranean
marine animals, some of them rare or difficult to observe
in captivity. Interesting species such as deep-sea fishes,
crustaceans, different kinds of molluscs can be seen. The
tropical part of the aquarium proposes piranhas, small sharks,
balloon-fishes and other interesting species that come from
tropical waters around the world. There is also an animal
museum that holds more than 250 species of Mammals and birds
that live on the island of Elba.
THE CABLEWAY OF MONTE CAPANNE
There is a cableway along the road that leads you to Marciana
from which you reach the top of the mountain (1019 metres).
On the top you have a great view over Elba, the Tuscan archipelago,
the Etruscan coast and Corsica.

THE SMALL MINE
A train takes you on a trip, 250 metres under the ground where
you are able to see historic findings, old machinery and typical
minerals from Elba. The staff shows the visitors how to work
the stone and the minerals.
THE MINERAL MUSEUM OF ELBA
The museum exposes 700 samples of minerals from the iron mines
of the east part of Elba and pegmatite veins from the Capanne
mountain.
The museum has three rooms. The first room holds the maps
that show the mineral mines on the island. The other rooms
holds the exposition of the minerals.. There is also a reconstruction
of the mine galleries of Punta Calamita, with the mining equipment.
THE SAN GIOVANNI SPAS
The S. Giovanni spas are situated in the gulf of Portoferraio
in an organic iodine and sulphur mud area and is specialised
in the use of mud, algae, sea plants and seawater. The wards
are equipped with aerosols, jetinhalations (where bronchitis,
sinusitis, rinitis, pharyngolaryngitis, otitis, lymphatic
diseases are treated here) and there is a section specialised
in mudtherapy. The mud is used to treat cellulitis and skin
diseases such as acne, psoriasis, seborrhea and skin treatment.
The application of mud and then water therapy and massages
are useful to treat artrosis, and rheumathical diseases and
fracture rehabilitation. This is the only establishment that
practices talassotherapy ( seawater bath with extracts of
algae and marine plants) and we can olso offer our clients
physiotherapy and rehabilitation ( ioniophoresis, electrostimulation,
galvanotherapy, tens, marconitherapy, radartherapy, equipment
for physiotherapy). The spa operates within the national health
service and our clientspay only a small fee for the mudtherapy,
the watertherapy and the inhalation treatment.
ANTISTRESS TREATMENT
For people of any ages with a very intense life and with physical
and psicological stress. The treatment consists of peeling,
6 bubble-baths with marine algae extracts, 6 massages, diurethic
infusions and a medical check-up.
SKIN TREATMENT
For people with acne, seborrhoeic eczema, senile skin. Consists
of vapozoon with marine algae extracts, 6 face applications
of thermal mud, AZ treatment, 6 face massages, a medical check-up.
SLIM TREATMENT
For people with limbs circulatory problems and water retention
and people with exudative cellulitis. A good way to keep fit
and the treatment consolidates the skin. Useful for people
who wants to loose weight. Peeling as a pre-treatment, 6 hydromassages
with marine algae extracts, diet homogram, diurethic infusions
and a medical check-up.
ANTISMOG TREATMENT
To treat rhinitis, pharyngolaryngitis, sinusitis,
bronchitis.
Consists of 6 jet inhalations with different types of mud,
6 bubble-baths with marine algae extracts, a medical check-up.
A two week treatment.
